  An experimental study was conducted on the impact of different developed soundproof enclosures on noise emissions of small power generation units fueled by natural gas. The sound signals of the generator without a hood and the generator covered with a developed soundproof hood were measured under five electrical load conditions (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% load) in front of the generator exhaust. Measure the sound signal according to the SAE J1074 test procedure. Convert the recorded digital audio signal to the frequency domain using the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) algorithm. The results indicate that the simple cover (SE) and the improved cover effectively attenuate generator noise at frequencies greater than 800Hz and 250Hz, respectively. The acoustic performance of the semi covered improved hood (SME) and the fully covered improved hood (FME) in attenuating generator noise is superior to that of the SE hood. The acoustic performance of all covers decreases with increasing generator load, especially under full load conditions. The results of analysis of variance (ANOVA) indicate that the load conditions of the generator, the cover setting mode, and their interactions have a significant impact on the weighted total sound of generator A (P<0.01). The results of Duncan's multi range testing show that covering the generator with different types of covers can significantly reduce the generator sound level (93.2dB (A)) to 88.4dB (A) for SE, 87.2dB (A) for SME, and 86.1dB (A) for FME. They also revealed that the sound of the generator significantly increased with the increase of the generator's electrical load (P<0.01).
